STOCK SALES

PIO PIO AND TE-KUITI. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report:—-At Pio Pio on Thursday we had a medium entry of catt'e which sold at late rates. We quote: Fat cows £3 to £4 10s; store cows £1 3s to £1 15s; yearling P.A. heifers £2 7s 6d; 2-year do £3; yearling steers £1 17s to £3 3s; small mix-id coloured yearling steers £1 4s; yearling Jersey heifers 30s to £2 6s; dairy cows £2. At Te Kuiti on Friday we yarded 586 head of cattle, mainly yearling and 2-year-old. One and 2-yeai steel's were keenly sought after, but for females the demand was not so keen. A good clearance was made at the following prices:—2-year P.A. steers £4 to £4 10s; 2-year Hereford steers £3 14s to £4 7s 6d; Shorthorn and Hereford cross £3 to £3 17s 6d; mixed coloured 30s to £2 18s; yeai--ling P.A. steers £2 17s 6d to £3 12s; Hereford yearling steers £3 to £3 ss; yearling Shorthorn steers £2 5s to £3 2s 6d; yearling P.A. heifers £2 to £2 10s; fresh conditioned P.A. cows £3 2s; store cows 19s to £1 6s; empty heifers 27s to £2. A small yarding of sheep met with a good inquiry- Ewe hoggets 25s 6d; wether hoggets 20s 6d; m.s. hoggets 18s 6d.

PlO PIO STOCK SALE. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their usual triweekly sale at Pio Pio on the 4th inst., when a small yarding of both sheep and cattle came forward. Bidding on the sheep was keen and prices were fully up to late rates. Cattle were not yarded in large numbers, there being the usual demand for fats, whilst the dairies being of better quality than previous sales attracted more attention. Quotations : Medium m.s. hoggets 19s; good ewe hoggets 25s 4d; 4 and 6-tooth wethers 235; fat P.A. heifers £6; fat Jersey cowis £3 ss; empty Jersey cows and heifers 24s to 28s; good yearling Jersey heifers £2 4s; Jersey cross heifers close to profit £3 to £3 ss; best Jersey heifers close to profit £4 10s to £5; good second calvers £4. TE KUITI CATTLE FAIR. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their Spring Cattle Fair at Te Kuiti saleyards o'n Friday, when the advertised number of cattle were penned. The quality of the cattle yarded was again first class, many lines of good P.A. and Hereford bullocks being offered. Very few outside buyers were present, the bulk 'of the yarding being purchased locally. Bullocks were sold at lower prices, but the demand for good quality young cattle was keen and these sold at late rates. Quotations: — Fat P.A. heifers, £5 15s; light fat steers, £7 15s; light fat cows, £3 to £4 10s; forward 4-year P.A. bullocks, £5 18s to £6 2s 6d; 3 and 4-year store P.A. and Hereford bullocks, £5 7s 6d to £5 15s; 3 and 4-year S.H. bullocks, store condition, £4 18s to £5 9s; 2-year P.A. steers, £3 18s to £4 Is; good yearling P.A. steers, £3 to £3 7s; Hereford yearling steers, £3 6s; yearling P.A. and Hereford heifers, £2 to £2 10s; P.A. breeding cows, r.w. P.A. and Hereford bulls, £4 9s; empty P.A. and Hereford cows, £3 8s; boner cows, £1 to £1 ss; 2-year Hereford bulls, 14 gns.

OTOROHANGA BULL SALE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hamilton, report on their Otorohanga bull sale held on Wednesday as follows: A good entry of pedigree and grade bulls came forward and a satisfactory sale resulted. Prices were generally up to the vendors' reserves, this being especially so in the case of older bulls. Yearlings were not as keenly sought after. The following are some of the individual prices realised:—On ac. Mr. Allan Bell, 2-year Jersey bull to Mr. H. Hodson, 21 gns; ac. the same vendor, to Mr. E. W. Tozer, yearling Jersey bull, 15 gns; ac. Mr. J. Dempsey, 2-year Jersey bull to Mr. A. C. Jordan, 14J gns; ac. Mr. H. A. Lurman, 1 yearling bull, to Mr. Geo. Hill, 133 gns.
