EARTHQUAKE PREDICTED
IN CALIFORNIA IN 1939. FATHER HABBARD'S FORECAST. (Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 1.5 p.m.) Vancouver, October 5. The famous glaciers priest, Father Habbard, the scientist who accurately forecast the San Francisco earthquake in 1906, forecasts another major earthquake towards the end of 1939. He bases his assumption on the fact that California is situated on the San Andreas drift which, geograhpically speaking, slips three times in a century.
