OLD AGE PENSIONS

PARTIAL RESTORATION OF CUT. PAYMENT ON MONDAY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Wellington, this day. A payment of 5 per cent, increase in Old Age Pensions will be made next Monday at the pension paying offices throughout the Dominion. The back pay will be for six months, and the extra amount of payment for the full old age pension will be £1 0s 6d, bringing the pension since the cut was made up from £4O 19s to £43 per anum. The Minister of Pensions, Mr. CobTbe says there are 38,000 old age pensioners in the Dominion, and he pays a tribute to the Departmental staff for the way they worked preparing the necessary papers to enable the readjusted payments to be made so quickly.
