DAIRY FACTORY BURNT

WITH PLANT AND STOCK. BIG BLOW TO DISTRICT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Blenheim, this day. The Rai Valley Dairy Factory was totally destroyed by fire earlv this morning. The insurance on the building was £2400, on the plant £2600, and on cheese for local consumption £2OO. All policies were in the South British office. There was also £SOO insurance on cheese for export this policy being with the Dairy Control Board.

The Post Office on the opposite side of the road was badly scorched. The factory is in the centre of an extensive dairying district and has been handling 10,0001 bof milk daily. Farmers will now have to separate on the farm and send the cream to Blenheim and other factories.

The property was owned by the Rai Valley Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd.
