SHOCKING CRUELTY.

A revolting case of cruelty to animals was revealed in the discovery by police of the operations of- a gang of horse thieves, who in a secluded stockyard in the mountains had been changing the brands of horses. The police found seven horses from which the brands had been removed by cutting into the hides. Strips of skin were still hanging from the cuts and wounds, which were left unattended, causing great pain. One horse suffering from tetanus was destroyed.
