DECLINE IN WINE-DRINKING.
FRANCE AND ITALY WORRIED. While British people are congratulating themselves on the decrease in the drinking of alcoholic beverages, both France and Italy are seriously worried about it. An Italian Minister recently publicly denounced "the exotic habit of drinking tea," and called upon patriots to turn "tea-time" into "wine-time." In France the consumption of tea has doubled in the last two years, that of wine has fallen off. Even in beer drinking countries there
are signs of the same tendency. A Czechoslovakian brewery recently decided to pay a divedend in beer instead of cash, and presented each shareholder with 22 gallons of its product.
