LAUNDRY HINTS.

When coloured materials are liable to run in the wash soak in the following manner:— Black: }{> lb. salt dissolved in a pail of cold water. Blue: A cup of vinegar in a pail of cold water. Brown, grey and "pink as for black with the addition of an ounce of alum. Red: Two tablespoons of ox gall in a pail of water. Hang the material on the line to dry without wringing.

Quilt directions:—First wash and boil the wool with some gqod soap powder. Spread out in the sun and dry well. Tease until light and fluffy then sew in thick soft strands on to a foundation. When the foundation is thickly and firmly covered slip it into a cover which can be made of chintz or art silk or both combined. Mark and tack the quilting and put through the sewing machine. This is better to be done by two people as it is somewhat awkward to handle. Pierce with a stilleto and work ventilation holes.
