LONDON WOOL SALES. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having- received the followingcablegram from their London house, dated 22nd inst.: — The wool sales opened, competition animated, attendance large, Continent largest buyers. Merinos selection good. Crossbreds few offerings. As compared with closing rates of last series:— Merinos unchanged. Crossbred, fine, unchanged. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report:—At weekly stock sale in the Frankton yards on Tuesday, 22nd inst., a smaller yarding of sheep came forward, with no alteration on late rates. A good entry of fat lambs was penned, prices remaining firm at last week's quotations. Cattle: A short yarding of ox beef, and consequently a sharp rise resulted. Cow and heifer beef of good quality was also in short supply, and this showed a good increase in value. Second quality cow beef showed an improvement, while store cattle remained unchanged. Pigs: An average yarding of fat pigs met with better competition, and a short yarding of stores showed an improvement. Quotations: — Medium fat wethers 30s lOd to lis Id; light 10s to 10s 6d; medium fat hoggets 10s to 10s 8s; light 9s to 9s 7d; heavy fat ewes 5s 6d to 6s; light 4s 6d to ss; heavy fat lambs lis 9d to 12s 6d; medium 10s to 10s 9d; light 9s to 9s 6d; vealers 12s 6d to 16s; medium fat steers £5 16s to £5 19s; heavy fat cows £4 Is to £4 9s; medium £3 10s to £3 17s; light £2 5s to £3; killable 27s 6d to 355; store cows 20s to 255; boners lis to 18s; yearling Jersey heifers 35s to £2 ss; bulls for service £2 to £2 10s.
