CUT FLOWERS.
Cut flowers keep fresh longer if they are kept in a cool, dark place for an hour or two after they are bought and placed in a jug or vessel which gives them ample room to drink, the stem of all flowers which are not freshly gathered should be cut at once, and thick wood stems —such as those of the rose and lilac—should
be crushed slightly at the end with a hammer.
