Owing to the continued buoyancy of the Commonwealth's revenue, the Prime Minister of Australia, Mr. J. A. Lyons, was able to announce in the House of Representatives reductions in taxation totalling £2,100,000. He said this was the first instalment of a much more comprehensive scheme of reduction later on.
