THE SUPPLEMENT
With to-day’s issue, the four-page illustrated supplement, which has been a regular weekly feature of “The Chronicle” since Novembei*, 1931, will be published for the last time. The supplement, which was undertaken last year as a co-operative effort among the country papers of the South Auckland ai-ea, has appeared simultaneously each week in twelve different towns. It was launched, however, under difficult business conditions, and since its inception those conditions have not tended to improve. In consequence, it is felt among the papers concerned that the extra price involved in its production is. not justified at the present time. Our readers, we are sure, have appreciated this extra service that “The Chronicle” has been able to offer them during the past eight or nine months, and, while sharing our regret, will also appreciate the reasons for its withdrawal.
