The State Prosecutor in the case in which the Russian Gorguloff is charged with the murder of the late President, M. Doumer, described Gorguloff as a depraved bigamist and a latter-day Rasputin. Counsel for the defence contended that Gorguloff was an absolute lunatic. The jury retired and in twentyfive minutes returned with a verdict of premeditated murder and the death sentence was passed. Gorguloff was led away shouting unintelligibly.
