Mr. J. A. Mollison's aeroplane in which he will endeavour next month to make a double trans-Atlantic flight, has been christened "Heart's Content."

The flower of German youth and also Count Felix von Luckner, one of Germany's most chivalrous and adventurous sailors, met their death when the training ship Niore (Capt. Ruhfus) was capsized in a squall in the Baltic. About 60 lives were lost.

The scheme for the reform of the Legislative Council of N.S.W. has been agreed to by the Cabinet. If the bill passes both the present Houses and is accepted at a referendum the present Upper House will go completely.

The death is reported of Sir William McPherson, the well known merchant and politician. He was Premier and Treasurer of Victoria from 1928-9, and on the Labour victory in the latter year, he led the Opposition until his resignation in 1930, when Sir Stanley Argyle, the present Premier, took the post.

A new race of millionaires has been produced in the United States in the last few years, income statistics show. The great fortunes of the legitimate trader and business man have toppled, their incomes shrinking 60 per cent, while bootleggers and racketeers have risen to high rank in the new dynasty of the wealthy.

The Dominion representatives on Tuesday unanimously agreed on a joint case regarding the meat proposals, which will be represented to Mr. Neville Chamberlain and Sir John Gilmour by the Ministers of the countries concerned, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Rhodesia and the Free State.
