TIME WELL SPENT.

WARMING UP THE CAR. Are you willing to spend two minutes warming up your engine? It's time well spent. After your car has been standing all night in the cold its "morale" is at its lowest ebb. The oil has drained off the cylinder walls and lies cold and heavy in the bottom of the crankcase. If you start right out as soon as the engine starts to fire, you're really giving your motor a lot of punishment, which two minutes' gentle warming up would overcome.

Here's the proper way to do it: — When the motor starts to fire, close the throttle and ease off on the choke just as much as possible without stalling the motor. Let it run that way for two minutes. The oil will get "loosened up" during that period and flow freely enough to protect the cylinder walls as they shold be protected.

Don't race your motor or you lose the advantage gained by the warm-ing-up period. In fact, a motor raced without any "driving load" is subjected to a very severe strain. Two minutes isn't a long time, and will prove a valuable investment.
