THE DENTAL CLINIC.

We are given to understand that so far there has been a very poor response to the appeal to parents made by the committee of the local Dental Clinic to enrol their children in the list for treatment. This is a matter of keen regret, as it means that the Clinic will be dispensed with at the local school unless parents take more interest in the matter. Parents evidently fail to realise that in this clinic they have a service which may save them endless expense and their children a large amount of ill-health in the future. More than that they have a duty to their offspring which they fail to recognise. The fee charge is only a nominal one, even in these times of stress 'and worry there are few who could not find the amount if they realised what it means in after life to the young people in having their teeth properly cared for. The clinic was established in the district by the efforts of a number of enthusiasts, and at considerable cost. The Education Department gavg every assistance and the services of an efficient nurse were provided. The Department has been forced by the present day economical conditions to make a small charge, and it would be nothing less than a disaster that this most necessary work should be discontinued. A final decision will have to be made by the parents within the next few weeks. If they do not enrol their children in the Clinic it will have to go. It is only then will it be realised what has been lost to the district.
