CAMBRIDGE SALE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hamilton, report on their Cambridge stock sale held on Saturday as follows: Cattle. —Cow beef, which was penned in average numbers, met with a steady demand, late rates being reported. We quote:—Fat cows £3 to £3 10s; poorer do, £2 7s 6d to £2 17s 6d; light quality do, £1 15s to £2 10s; killable do, £1 9s to £1 14s; stores 18s to £1 7s; boners 14s to 17s; yearling heifer calves £1 14s to £2; poorer do, £1 5s to £1 12s. Sheep.—Competition on an average yarding of store sheep was very spirited, resulting in an appreciable advance on recent quotations. We quote:—Good store lambs 5s 8d to 6s Id; 4 and 6-tooth and fresh full, mouth ewes 7s 9d; other ewes 5s Id to 7s 4d; poorer do, 4s 2d to ss. Pigs.—The entry of pigs, which comprised mostly stores and weaners sold at values firm at late rates. We quote:—Light porkers £1 to £1 3s; large stores 16s to £1; smaller do, 14s'to 16s; slips 9s to 12s; weaner 4s 6d to,7s 6d.
HAMILTON STOCK SALE.. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report:— At the weekly stock sale in the Frankton yards on Tuesday, Ist inst., we had a smaller all-round yarding of fat sheep and beef. Sheep: Owing to the small entry competition was very keen and prices firmed considerably. Cattle: Only a few pens of ox beef came forward
and also a small yarding of cow beef with practically no alteration on late quotations. Pigs: An average number of fat and store pigs was penned with prices all round on a par with last week's rates. Quotations : Medium fat wethers 13s to 13s 6d; light lis 6d to 12s 6d; medium fat ewes 5s 6d to 7s 6d; medium fat hoggets lis to 12s: light hoggets 9s 6d to 10s; fat lambs 8s 3d to 10s 3d; medium fat steers £6 18s to £7 7s; light £5 5s to £6; fat cows £3 5s to £5 15s; light £2 5s to £2 12s 6d; unfinished cows 30s to 355; store cows 20s to 255; boner cows 10s to 15s; Jersey cross heifers, r.w.b., 355. Pigs: Choppers 29s to 38s; heavy baconers £2 to £2 4s; medium baconers 37s to £2; light baconers 33s to 355; heavy porkers 26s to 295; medium 22s to 255; light 19s to 21s; stores 14s to 17s; slips 10s 6d to 12s 6d; good weaners 5s to 7s 6d; small 3s to 4s 6d.
