Mr. T. Rigg, assistant-director of the Cawthron Institute, is in the Te Kuiti district in connection with soil surveying. Mr. H. W. Salmon has been appointed assistant-master at the Te Kuiti D.H.S. Mr. Salmon will take the place of Mr. Merrick, who has received an appointment at Cambridge D.H. School. Mr. E. P. Cox, secretary of the Egmont Racing Club, Hawera, has been appointed secretary of the Wellington Racing Club. t Miss Marjory Skill, soprano, of Wellington, who has been resident in jS'ydney! for pome years, is among those chosen to appear in the Williamson Grand Opera Company, which will commence a season with the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Miss Skill has sung extensively for 2BL, Sydney, and a few years ago was invited by the Brisbane Choral Society, on the personal recommendation of Mr. Roland Foster, to sing the solos of that society's festival. Miss Skill is a sister of Mrs. Colclough, of Te Kuiti.
