DISTRICT NEWS

PIO PIO. (Own Correspondent.) The Play-Reading Club held a meeting on Monday evening, 17st., which was well attended. Mrs. C. K. Wilson was elected president for the coming year, and Rev. Mr. Fussell, secretary and treasurer. The committee comprises the following members: Miss Oates, Messrs. Payne, Dennison, Nicholas and Webster. It was proposed to hold meetings every Wednesday evening in the school, and the subscription was fixed at 2/6 yearly. It is hoped that more members will join. After the business was concluded a' play was read, "Mr. Pym Passes By," which was much appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed by all present. As most of those present were new members, the following old members took part in the reading of the play: "Olivia Marden," Mrs. Payne; "George Marden," Rev. Mr. Fussell; "Dinah Marden," Miss Mary Harvey; "Bryan Strange," Mr. Dennison; "Lady Marden," Mrs. Haslett; "Carraway Pym," Mr. Payne, "Anne," Miss Joyce Jackson.
