HIGHER PRICES
DAIRY PRODUCE RISES. WOOL IMPROVES. A rise of 9/- to 10/- a cwt. in the price of butter and an advance of 9/to 11/- a cwt. in cheese during the last fortnight have been recorded in the London markets, and will be welcome to the dairy farmers of the Dominion. The prices of New Zealand dairy produce in London are now on a parity with those ruling twelve months ago, and if sustained they will represent hundreds of thousands of pounds in additional returns to the Dominion during the next few weeks.
The London wool sales are proceeding with strong competition, and although prices for some descriptions showed a slight easing on Friday, all are selling well above the level of the opening rates of the series, which have been extended till Wednesday. It was originally intended that the sales should close last Friday, but the. improvement in the prices . and clearances caused an extension first till to-morrow, and finally, till Wednesday. : Frozen meat prices have shown an easing tendency in London during the last week or two, mainly owing to the heavy supplies of fresh, home-killed meat.
