GIRL’S SWIM FOR A DOG.
FULLY-CLOTHED DASH. Miss Emily Bagley, aged 19, of England, was on her way to interview a prospective employer at Barry, when she was attracted to the quayside by a large crowd. Struggling in the harbour was a dog which had become entangled in the a'nchor rope of a boat about 50 yards out. The crowd still looked on while the dog whined pitifully. But not Miss Begley. She dived, fully clothed, into the water and swam out to the distressed animal. It was a difficult swim with her clothes impeding her. She reached the dog, released it, and supporting it under her arm, swam back to the shore against the incoming tide and strong currents. The dog’s gratitude was such as only animal lovers know. It placed its paws on the rescuer in an almost human manner a'nd returned thanks.
Miss Begley went back to her home. She changed her clothes, and then re* sumed her journey to see a prospective employer.
