Fierce rioting occurred at Srinagar Kashmir, where thousands of Moslems, infuriated by the arrest of their leader, attempted to storm the Maharajah’s palace. State troops aided the police to quell the disturbance. They were fiercely attacked by the mobs, which fanatically disregarding the repeated cavalry charges, _ overwhelmed small attachments of troops and killed and injured many of the riders. Scores of the rioters were wounded.
