A shocking tragedy occurred at Avellino, when a middle-aged man whose wife recently died lost his reason and attacked his four children. The neighbours were roused late at night by their screams and saw him thi’owing a child from a window into a ravine 200 feet deep. He then appeared at the window with another child who struggled free. The father overbalanced and fell out, crashing into the ravine.

Neighbours found the father and two children with shattered limbs, all fatally injured.
