CRICKET.

TE KUITI DEFEAT OTOROHANGA IN FRIENDLY GAME. An eleven, drawn from the Te Kuiti cricket clubs, journeyed to Otorohanga during the week-end to P* a y a . friendly game with Otorohanga. The home side, batting first on a perfect wicket, knocked up the respectable total of 127 runs—H. McLeod. (37), Cbrbett (36), Hughes (15) .and Fairbrother (12), being the principal contributors. McAvdnue and Davidson shared the bowling honours, taking nine wickets between them. Te Kuiti's innings started auspiciously and Ldddell and Banfield had taken the gloss off the bowling before being aeparated. MeAvinue, Grant and Lusk carried on the good work and the runs required for victory were obtained with the loss of six wickets. At the conclusion of the game the skippers, Fairbrother and MeAvinue, exchanged the usual compliments, and the hope was expressed that the game would be the forerunner of many others.
