DAIRY FARMERS CONFER.

GRADING OF MILK AND CREAM. BLOCK SYSTEM RECOMMENDED. The half-yearly conferences of committeemen representing suppliers to the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd., are being held throughout the company's territory, and during the past week conferences were held at Papakura, Pukekohe, Otorohanga.. and Te Awamutu, in each case being largely attended. Representatives of the Directorate and management were present at each conference, and gave committeemen a full outline of the operations of the company for the current season to date. v IMPROVEMENT OF QUALITY. The question of the quality of dairy produce produced in New Zealand was discussed at some length with a view to arriving at some satisfactory method of bringing about a substantial improvement. It was generally agreed by committeemen that the first essential towards effecting an improvement was to place the grading of milk and cream at.all factories, and dairy farm instruction under the block system, under the direct control of the dairy division. Resolutions were carried unanimously at each conference urging upon the Minister of Agriculture to have the necessary ligislation passed this present session of Parliament to enable the block system of dairy farm instruction to be brought about forthwith. NOT SATISFIED WITH SUPPORT. The conferences were also informed that the directors of the company were not satisfied with the support that they had received from suppliers in the matter of fertiliser orders, and urged committeemen to bring the true position before suppliers in the various districts, with a view to getting for the company, a much greater measure of support in this connection than they have received hitherto, and this they agreed to do.
