NEW YORK MAYORALTY.

WORLD'S SAFEST CITY. STATEMENT REFUTED BY FACTS. (Press Association —Copyright.) (Received 9.45 a.m.) New York, November 4. Mr. Grover Whalen, while extolling Mr. J. J. Walker's Mayoral regime, declared that New York was the world's safest citiy to live in. Curiously enough, in contradiction to this statement an economic survey had just been issued which stated that human life in the metropolis is now menaced to a greater degree than ever before. There were sixteen times as many murders committed in New York as there were in London, and only one murderer in every hundred and sixty was executed. It is expected that Tammany will to-day re-elect the Mayor of NewYork, Mr. J. J. Walker, with a record majority. It is believed that a tremendous Democrat victory will be witnessed.
