ARMED GUARDS AT WHITEHALL.
DEFENCE COMMITTEE CONFERS. LORD ALLENBY’S WARNING. (Press Association. —Copyright.) (Received 11.45 a.m.; London, December 5. With reference to the sensational reports of the Egyptian extremist conspiracy to assassinate the British Ministers in London, it is learned that as a result of communications received in London yesterday from the High Commissioner, Lord Allenby, steps have been_taken to increase the police protection of the Cabinet Ministers and the Government buildings. It is understood that Lord Allenby gave a warning that members of the Wafd, Zaghlul’s party organisation, of whom there are many in England, are becoming restive and likely to be disorderly. The documents were submitted to a special meeting of the Imperial Defence Committee, after which the chiefs of Scotland Yard were consulted. Additional Scotland Yard officers are now on duty at Whitehall, and are mostly armed with revolvers. It is pointed out that there are v, many hundreds of Egyptians in England, mostly students.
