In an interview wi|th pressmen, Lord Jelliooe dedined. to comment on matters of national importance, and said that for a few months at least his lips were sealed, lie had had a thoroughly •enjoyable stay in New Zealand, and hoped, to visit jt again soon. He had not taken an option over any land with a view to a permanent settlement in New Zealand, as he did ndt believe in absentee landlords. He said the Governor's duties were very wearing, and he was feeling the effect of the ■strain. Tie doctor had ordered him to take a complete rest. H:is plans for the future were vague, but he would probably retire into private life on his return to England. Lord Jellicde. stays, at Sutton Forest till the end of next week, when he .proceeds to Melbourne.
