Speaking to a representative of the Northern Advocate, Dean Russell, of Winconsin University, said that the tourist trade had become one of their biggest revenue producing “crops.” In Winconsin State there were 2500 lakes, which the people from the South, in particular, visited in large numbers. The revenue from tourists was estimated at 900,000 dollar's daily in the height of the tourist season. A census of the traffic is taken by checking in the cars which cross the boundary, and afterwards checking them out. “And yet our scenery cannot compare with that of New Zealand in the minutest fashion,” commented Professor on his companion’s remarks.
