THE CHRISTCHURCH SALE.
There was the keenest competition at the Christchurch sale on Saturday, the Bradford houses buying in practically two-thirds of the offerings. The greater part of the halfbred catalogues made from 32d to 37d, woffle 40d was reached on several lots. The highest price of the day was 42 : f,jd for pasture wool. Crossbred averaged from 24d to 26d, the highest price being 30Ud. Very little crossbred was sold under 20d. On the wools that can be classified with recent North Island offerings there was a rise of quite 2d a lb on northern rates. Most of the buyers of halfbred calculate that their purchases wore at from £45 to 150 a bale.
