A cable message states that the Duke and Duchess of York have departed fulr Bast Africa. Mrs J. D. Vernon and, Mrs W. G. Somerville are spending a few days in Auckland. Mr J. D. Vernon is attending the Supreme Court sittings at Hamilton. Mr Eric Somerville left for Auckland this morning to attend the wedding of Mr J. R. Morton. Lord Jellicoc arrived in Sydney by the Tahiti frofcn .Wellington on Saturday afternoon. He left for Melbourne later in tho day. Queen Alexandra was 80 years of age on Sa'tliirday, when a party was held at Sandringham. The Queoiw Mother drove out on Saturday in a.* open ear. She was looking well. Zane Grey, tho novelist, is going to London, and is then coming to New Zealand on a fishing holiday. His Honour the Chief Justice (Sir Robert Sitout) has been sworn in in Executive Council as Administrator of the Dominion of Nfcw Zealand until the arrival of the new Governor-Gen-eral, Sir Charles Fergusson. A Press cable stales that Lord Jellicoe will participate to-morrow in a specially organised race for yachts of the 21-foot class, sailing the yacht Corella, hwnetl by the Governor-Gen-eral, Lord Forster. 'Tlio Governor of New South Wales, Admiral Sir D. D. Do Chair, will sail his own boat, tho Cheery.
