THREATENED TRAMWAY STRIKE. (Received 10 a.m.) Brisbane, this day. A meeting of the Tramway Employees’ Union discussed the departments alleged flouting of the Federal award, and decided to take a ballot as to whether the union would declare a regulation strike during the visit of the fleet. as a protest. If they decide in the affirmative, the employees will adhere so strictly to the regulations that they will practically disorganise the service. PUBLIC SERVICE ASSOCIATION. ACTION BY FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. (Received 12.2 p.m.) Melbourne, this day. The State Governments of Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia are taking action for the repeal of the registration of the Public Servants’ Association under the Commonwealth Arbitration Act as an industrial body of employees. One of the grounds of the action is that members are employed by the King and are not engaged in any industry. FIRE IN BRISBANE.
