THE SOLDIER SETTLER.

WORK OF THE R.S.A. An interesting visitor to Te Kuiti yesterday was Mr S. J. Harrison, general secretary for Now Zealand of the R.S.A. The object of his visit was to acquaint the local branch of the Association of the activities of headquarters, and this was done last night at an informal meeting of the executive at the residence of Dr ]VI. Mcßae. In the course of a chat with a Chronicle representative, Mr Harrison gave some interesting details of a scheme, originating from the Association, for a supply of pedigree bulls for soldier dairy farmers. Some time ago General Sir Andrew Russell, Dominion President of the Association, had appealed to dairy farmers and others to make donations of bulls to the Association for the use of soldier settlers. The appeal resulted in the donation of 30 valuable alumals of various wellknown breeds. All soldier settlers were then circularised, and asked to make application for the use of the stock. The terms were £T ou application, and £4 on allotment, the settler to have the use of the bull for three years, and to pay the cost of transport. The scheme had met with instantantous success, over 180 applications having been received. The Association was now about to issue another appeal, on similar lines, and; is hopeful of being able to distribute another 30 high-grade animals at an early date. Applications from all interested soldier settlers in this district will be welcomed.
