A young man received a shock outside a residence in Hunterville last week, says the local paper. After escorting a young lady home from a dance, he stood at the gateway, holding his horse while bidding the sweet one a fond farewell. After a few moments his courage ebbed as a piece of firewod whizzed past his head, while from the door he heard the words, "Get out, you brute!" in language fierce and terrible. With trembling limbs he turned to fly, but before he could mount and away the "head of the house," in night attire, appeared and briefly apologised, stating that he had been dreaming of the stray stock nuisance. Awakening suddenly, and hearing the horse moving on the wellkept footpath, he came to the conclusion that a stray animal was paying a call, hence the apparent heavy father act.
