Sir John Denniston died at Christchurch early this morning from pneumonia following on pleurisy, aged 74. The Rev. Pene Topi, of Te Kuiti, left for Auckland to-day to attend the General Synod of the Anglican Church. Mrs G. Feilingham, of Te Mapara, is staying at the Grand. Mr and Mrs Georgetti, of Mangaweka, were staying at the Grand. They left for North to-day. The Mayor (Mr G. P. Finlay) visited Mahoenui yesterday and delivered an address to the children at the peace celebrations. Mr R. Hewitt is staying at the Grand. He is proceedihg to Awakino. Mr J. E. Ward, postmaster at Pio Pio, has been transferred to Timaru. Mr G. R. Dansey, who has recently returned from the front, has commenced duty as chief clerk in the Te Kuiti post office. Mr W. L. Titchener, lately a major in the N.Z.F.A., has been appointed manager at Otorohanga for the Farmers' Union Trading Co. He is expected early this week. Mr R. Corby, who has just returned from the front, is expected in Te Kuiti to-day. He is to take charge of the Farmers' Union Trading Co.'s hardware department. Dr Will has returned to Te Kuiti and resumed practice. Mr E. W. Burton, S.M., left for Hamilton yesterday afternoon. He is relieving Mr Young, S.M., who is paying a visit to Dunedin. Mr Young is expected back in the first week of next month. Mr Burton returns to Te Kuiti to-morrow afternoon for Thursday's court
