At the Chamber of Commerce meeting on Tuesday night, Mr Cory Matthew said that the vagaries of the town clock caused much inconvenience to residents on occasions. The Chamber was responsible for the clock being obtained, but it was never intended that it should be exposed to the weather. Once it went on strike for six weeks. He moved that a letter be sent to the postmaster, asking if it would be possible to arrange that the time be more accurately recorded. This was carried.
