ODDFELLOWS' FRIENDLY SOCIETY.
In an interview recently, Mr John McLeod, Auckland Provincial Corresponding Secretary for the Manchester Unity of Independent Order of Oddfellows Friendly Society, gave some facts that may be of interest to tboie who know very little about this powerfol worldwide body. In the Auckland district 810 members enlisted, 119 were killed, 20 died of wounds and disease, and 174 were> wounded, whilst tbe branch paid away tha sum of £10,630 to incapacitated members and their dependants, from the beginning of the war antil December last. Over 250,000 members of the Society in tbe British Empire joined th« ranks, and the bage sum of £1,925,000 was paid out in relief.
There is a branch of this splendid organisation in T« Kutti, and now that the war is over, it is renewing its activities.
