TE KUITI LAWN TENNIS CLUB.
The opening . day of the Te Kuiti Lnwn Tennis Club took place on Saturday afternoon last There was a large gathering of members and visitors. Thanks to tha secretary, Mr S. Power, the courts were in good condition, the asphalt court being particularly good. All the courts were kept fully occupied fron 3 p.m. until dusk. Mr R. B. Webber, president, in a short speech, wished the club good luck in the coming Beaßon, and stated that he thought the Howard Shield should this Beason find a resting place in Te Kuiti. He also paid a tribute to tha good work done by the secretary, and felt sure that the club bad, in that official, the right man in the right place. During the afternoon the lady mem bers of the club dispensed afternoon te?, which'was mu h appreciated.
It ia anticipated that a very successful season ia in store for the club, some twenty-five new members having already been elected, and no-w that the vsatar ia laid on to the courts, the play will be raucli more pl«Rsurable than in previous years.
