THE WOOL MARKET.

SECOND AUCKLAND SALE.

GOOD PRICES REALISED.

The second wool sale of the season was held at Auckland yesterday. A catalogue of 11,482 bales waa submitted, and an exceptionally good clearance of all lines was effected at priues which compare more than favourably with those of the opening sales in November. At the January sales last year the quantity offered waß 11,228. . When the sales commenced early in the forenoon the auctioneer was faced by a large bench of buyers representative of commercial houses at Bradford, on. the Continent, and in America, while local mills, fellmongers, and speculators were also operating. A feature of the sale was the exceptionally good prices realised for lambs' wool, good sorts making up to llfd and seedy from 6d to 7d per lb. There was very little wool suitable for America, consequently the demand from this quarter was limited. Crossbreds sold strongly. In an official statement of prices the Auckland Wool Brokers' Association observes that the attendance of buyers was the largest on record for the Auckland market. Fine crossbred sold at prices on a level with November rates. Strong crossbred and three-quarter wools Went at from Ja to Id higher. Shabby coarse crossbred wools were from par to Jd higher as were also bellies and pieces.
