A cyclone in the Tamworth and Nemingha districts, accompanied by torrential rain and hail did widespread damage. Many houses were dismantled and unroofed the latter including the Anglican church and a large butter factory. A big area of lucerne and tobacco crops were destroyed and the loss aggregate many thousands sterling. Several sensatlional escapes are reported. Men were blown from a load of hay over a fence The force of tba wind may be gauged from the fact that the weather boards of houses and sheds were maßhed to pieces and blown clean away, and a pig was lifted over a fence. A flood added to the devastation. Luckily the storm exhausted itself in a limited area.
