BOWLING.
It waß understood that three rinkß from the Whitiora Bowling Club Hamilton, were to visit Te Kuiti today, but information was received yesterday that the players were anable to make the trip. Probably a visit will be arranged later in the season. Considering the small amount of practice he is able to get veteran LisBaraan is showing really good form, and it is to be hoped he will be able to take part in some of the forthcoming competition. Universal satisfaction was expressed when it became known that the heatstroke which attacked J. Williams at Te Aroha was not of a serious nature, and his appearance on the green to-day will be welcomed by his clubmates. A considerable number of players have signified their intention of taking part in the South Auckland tournament to be held at Hamilton at the end of this month, and it is expected three rinks will be entered. The first team should stand an excellent chance in the competition, and unless the fickle goddess frowns upon them, should make amends for past disappointments. Power is away on holiday, but is getting in some practice and should be in good form. Cochrane, who at the beginning of the season, was rather out of form, has come back to his same, and is playing in hia old style, while Matthew and Williams have'been through the Te Aroha tournament and have had good practice. It is uncertain how the other rink? will be constituted, but there is ample material available for two fairly strong teams either of which might create a surprise. The keen interest shown by firstyear player i this season is responsible for a decided improvement in the standard of play in the jolts' class. Messrs Mora, Young and Moorhouse, who are the latest recruits, are prominent among the colts, and give promise of developing into something above the average. A colts' competition in the club during the isason should produce an interesting contest.
