NEW ZEALAND WOOL.

JAPANESE INVESTIGATIONS. Wellington, Wednesday. A spectator at the wool sale in Wellington was Mr T. Takahaahi, who represents the Government woollen mills at Tokyo. Japan. Mr Takahoshi ia visiting New Zealand with a view of furnishing a report to the Japanese Government on the quality of our wool, and also as to the methods of sale adopted here. He visited the woolshed and examined the various samples displayed there in preparation for to-day's sale. To a pressman Mr Takahashi stated that all the material for the uniforms of the Japanese army is manufactured at the Government mills at Tokyo, which employs about 1500 hands constantly. Mr Takahashi attended the wool sales at Napier, and, after watching the operations at the sale in Wellington to day, he proceeded south, and thence goes on to Tasmania, Melbourne, and Sydney. It is probable that he will again visit Australia and New Zealand during the next wool season. He was unable to say whether Japan would be a regular customer for New Zealand wool, as that would depend on the decision of the Japanese authorities after considering the reports which he will furnish on the quality of New Zealand and Australian wools, and on the conditions of Bale and coat of shipping, etc.
