CROWING PEAS.
Every grower of Peas knows the havoc produced by the small birds, no matter what mechanical precautions or devices are taken to keep the birds off the crop, such as "guys," Vthe ringing of bells," or "the firing ef the gun," the bird? will have their full toll, which means a drain on the crop and hence smaller returns. Talking the other day about this trouble with a grower who had six acres in Peas, he Eaid he had discovered a splendid remedy for this small bird nuisance. He hsd been spraying his peas with the Sherwin- Williams' Sulfur Solution to protect them from Blight, and found that not. only did it protect them from Elight, and found that not 'only did it protect them from disease, but that it kept the birds away as well —they would not go near the Pea?. He said he used one gallon of the S. W. Lime Sulfur Solution tc 5 gallons of water, and sprayed about once a week. Reconsidered it true economy to spray frequently. Last year his income from Peas whb £25 per acre. He>was so satisfied v/ith his experience last year that he was going to use the Sherwid-Williams, Lime .Sulfur Solu tion instead of Bordeaux Mixture to protect his Potatoes from Blight. The proportion for Potatoes is about Vto 75 of water. Tha ShsrwinWilliams' Lime Sulfur Solution can be got from any storekeeper or seedsman in one gallon and five gallon tins, or 50 gallon barrels.
