A widespread slackening lit business activity is prevalent in iha United States, pending a cfsarer contemplation by business people of the results of the changes brought about by the lowering of the tariff and by the legislation affecting the currency of the country. § There are at nresent fewer labour disturbances owing to the growing scarcity of employment. The financial newspapers insist that the unreasonably inflated ratea of wages must be reduced before the high cost of living can be lowered.
