A short Bitting of the court wbb held at Te Kuiti this morning before Mr J. Tammadge, J.P. A Maori for being drunk when in charge of a horse was fined 10s and cost, while another native was mulct in a penalty of 5a for drunkenness. A man named Nelaon, charged with drunkenness and the theft of a half a crown was fined 5s on each charge and ordered to return the coin in dispute. It appeared the man hßd been offered half a crown for a bottle of beer in the train. He had picked up the coin but refused to pi»rt with the liquor. The bench took the view that the incident was the outcome of a spree.
