A meeting of delegates of the dinV rent unions at the Trades Hall carried a resolution that this meeting of unionists desires to assist the workers now involved in the strike, and instructs the various members represented to down tools when asked to handle material handled by free lahour, expressing confidence in tho Federation of Labour, and pledging themselves to do all in their power to reinstate the men on the waterfront protesting against the registration of the unions under the Arbitration Act. The delegates who voted had not previously put matters before the unions, therefore the onion still have, to vote on the resolutions. AUCKLAND EMPLOYERS FIRM. COMPULSORY ARBITRATION ESSENTIAL. The Employers' Association, after discussing the request of the deputation to the stand taken on the question of compulsory arbitration should not be maintained, it was decided that the association would not recognise the Federation in any shape or form, eompulsory arbitration being regarded as essential.
