UNITED LABOUR CONGRESS.
OPENED AT WELLINGTON. [B» TEIEGRAPH. —I'B.KSS ASSOCIATION.} Wellington, Taesday. The Unity Congress whb opened at St Peter'e Hall this morning. The Hon. John Rigg was elected chairman < unopposed. Mr P. H. Hickey was appointed secretary. There were over 400 delegates present, and great enthusiasm was shown At the largest Labour conference ever [held south of the line. There was a long discussion as to whether the political and industrial activities of the movement would be taken together. Ultimately it wae decided to keep them separate. The Congress proceeded to consider the constitution of the United Federation of Labour.
