KAWHIA COUNCIL PROTESTS. The reading of native lands is receiving attention at the hands of the local bodies ailected by the manner in which native-owned blocks are disposed of without due provision having been made for roading. At the last meeting of the Waitomo County Council the following resolution passed by the Kawhia County Council was received:—"That this Council enter an emphatic protest against the method adopted by the Native Land Court and Maori Land Board in approving transfers made for legal rosd access. This Council also urges the Government, to take steps at an early date to enact such legislation as will place the subdivision of native lands in the same position as applies to Crown and private lands in respect to road access. - ' It was reßolVed that the Council support the resolution of (ho Kawhia County Council in respect to the reading of native lands.
