DISTRICT REQUIREMENTS.

Mr C. K. Wilson, member for tha distiict, has received the following replies from the Minister for Public Works concerning matters affecting various parts of the district: — POMERANGI ROAD. "I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your letter of 22nd ult., forwarding communication received by you from Mr Lund, of Mangaohae, urging that the one and a half irtile? remaining unformed on the Pomerangi road should be completed to enable the settlers to have a car*road to the railway. In reply I have to state that the whole of vote for this road (£200), has been authorised and, I believe, practically all expended. I am, however, having enquiry' made into Mr Lund's representations, and on receipt of a report frum the resident engineer, will further consider the matter. —W. FRASER." ACCESS TO SECTIONS. "Your letter of Ist inst. is to hand. I have referred the request ra Mr Corboy and others asking for access to their sections, to the district engineer for report. —W. FRASER." OTOKOHANG A-OTEWA ROAD. "I have the honoar to acknowledge receipt of your letter of 19th ult., in which, inter alia, you rafer to the necessity of extending the formation on tha Otorohanga-Otewa road. In reply I have to advise you that no authority for £217 has just been issued to the district engineer to enable him to carry out further work on this road. —W. FRASER." KIO KIO RAILWAY CROSSING. " With reference to the representations that were made by the deputation that waited upon me at Te Kuiti recently, urging that an additional level crossing should be provided at Kio Kio, I have the honour to inform you that in order to provide the pruposed crossing additional land will be required the cost of which should be paid by the local body. The cost of construction of the road and crossing would be about £l3O, considerable earthwork being involved. The general practice in connection with all such crossings is to call upon the local authorities to bear the cost of same and after giving the matter every consideration, I cannot"authorise that any exception be made in the case of Kio Kio.—W. H. HERRIES, Minister of Railways." GENERAL. "I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of 2nd inst., covering letters from Messrs Ongley and Babbage, and have to state that I am obtaining a report in regard to the matters referred to. I have also to acknowledge receipt of yours of 4th inst., requesting further expenditure on the road near the Ongarue river. This matter will have to be deferred for consideration with the Estimates. —W. FRASER."
