COUNTY COUNCIL AMENITIES.

LEGAL ACTION THREATENED

Own Correspondent,

Before opening the last meeting of the Ohura County Council, the chairman (Mr Loveday) explained that he had probably acted too hastily in instructing his solicitor to take immediate action against Cr Risk for a remark which Cr Risk had made, as he understood Cr Risk intended to make a statement to the council. He would like it made now.

Cr Risk «<aid that at a previous meeting, in the heat of the moment he had made a remark reflecting on the chairman which otherwise he would not have made. The chairman remarked that he had been given to understand that Cr Risk had agreed.to apologise to him (the chairman) at the council table. This Cr Risk disputed. The remark had been made while excited and he had withdrawn the remark and had nothing to apologise for, and certainly would not do so. Under these circumstances the chairman announced his intention of proceeding with the action, as the remark had been repeated in several papers.
