Te Kuiti Sparrs OluhVi meeting, held on Wednesday l:uu, proved to be one of the most euccessiul yet held. The weather was perieet ami the attendance was slightly better than last year. The programme, winch was a lengthy one. comprising uventy-two events, was earned through in a manner which denote." that the odicials in charge were well up to toeir duties. Championship events were included in the programme tor the hrst time, and though the fields in these events were small, the races were good ant! In the chopping; events the handicaps were also excellent, and some very close finishes resulted. Iho stewaids in both the athletic and chopping events are to be congratulated upon the excel lea t manner in w h ich they looked after their respective events and carried out the programme without a hitch. McColJ. and the gold medal for the choppng events by E. Pretty. In the evening a social was held in the Town Ilall, when about fifty couples attended. Dancing was kept up till about 2 a.m., Mr Hetnt supplying the music ami Mr C. C-hil-cott acted as M.t'. At a suitable interval the cup and medal won ;U the .'purls during the day was presented, n t roph.v to Miss McConnell, the lady in the waltzing cumpetiiion.
